Privacy Policy

Fridge is an iOS application operated by Fridge It LLC that helps people track food, expiration dates, and shared household kitchen inventory. If you have questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at adam@fridgeit.net.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate Fridge:

• Account information: email address, a secure bcrypt password hash, and an optional display name.
• Fridge content: fridge names, item names, quantities, dates added, expiration dates, and shared-fridge membership.
• Notification information: a Firebase Cloud Messaging device token associated with your account.
• Crash and diagnostic data: device model, operating system version, app version, stack traces, and diagnostic information collected via Firebase Crashlytics.
• Service logs: request metadata such as IP address, path, and timestamp for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
• Anonymized usage analytics: aggregated, anonymized app-usage statistics to understand feature adoption and improve stability. This data is not linked to your identity.

We do not collect location data, contacts, advertising identifiers (IDFA), HealthKit data, or data for behavioral advertising. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected data to authenticate your account, sync and share fridge items with members, deliver expiration reminders and transactional emails, investigate bugs, secure the service, and evaluate aggregated usage trends. We never sell personal data or disclose it to advertising brokers.

3. Shared Fridges

Members of a shared fridge can see its name, inventory items, and member list. The fridge owner can manage membership. Access ends immediately when a member leaves or is removed.

4. Service Providers

We rely on trusted third-party infrastructure providers to support the service:

• Google Cloud Platform: application hosting and database infrastructure.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: push notification delivery.
• Firebase Crashlytics: crash detection, stack traces, and diagnostics.
• Resend: transactional email delivery (password resets and fridge invitations).

5. Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Service data is hosted in the United States. We retain account and inventory data while your account remains active. Security logs are retained only as long as necessary for security auditing and debugging.

In-App Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated personal data directly within the app at any time by opening Account, tapping Delete Account, and confirming the prompt. This immediately purges your account, owned fridges, items, shared fridge memberships, notification tokens, and authentication sessions. Items added to a shared fridge owned by another user remain visible in that fridge without any association to your deleted account.

You may also email adam@fridgeit.net from your registered address to request access, correction, export, or deletion assistance. Verified requests are processed within 30 days.

6. Your Choices

You can update your display name in settings, request password resets, toggle push notifications in iOS Settings, leave shared fridges, or delete your account at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

Fridge is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us for prompt removal.

8. Security

All network traffic is encrypted using standard HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are salted and hashed using bcrypt. While no system is completely impenetrable, we implement industry-standard safeguards to protect your personal information.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this policy periodically. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated revision date.
